Wantuir started by supporting Dominguinhos of Estacio in Estacio de Sa.

In 2001 he joined Unidos da Tijuca, staying for two years. In 2003 he moved to the Império Serran but returned to Tijuca in 2004, where he remained until 2008. During this period, he won the Gold Banner twice (in 2005 and 2007). In 2010, Wantuir returned to Grande Rio as principal puxador in a blaze of publicity.

Wantuir came to London for the first time in 2010 to sing with Paraiso and to join Paraiso in a live stage performance at the Festival Hall as part of the Southbank's Festival Brazil.
